About me

When all your muscles are properly developed, you will, as a matter of course, perform your work with minimum effort and maximum pleasure - Joseph Pilates

Hi, I am Marta & here is my story. I began teaching in 2008 after successfully finishing my comprehensive training in Ashtanga Vinyasa with Larry Schultz in San Francisco.

My love for Pilates began a year later when a climbing accident left me unable to move my arm. I joined Amit Younger on a mat Pilates course with Body Arts and Science International (BASI). The gentle, controlled approach to movement and healing was so unique and effective that I was able to rehabilitate my shoulder. As I got stronger my curiosity grew with me. If I can be pain-free in my shoulder, could this system help me alleviate pain from other parts of my body? To find out, I embarked on a comprehensive Pilates certification, where I deepened the work of the Pilates system on machines known as the equipment. My education has not stopped there it is still ongoing. Whether from a new client, a new challenge or simply by being a student in someone else’s class. The journey never ends. We never stop learning. It amazes me how many times you can do the same exercise and every time it will feel completely different. Some days are easier and some days are harder.  Having something daily, however, a steady routine especially now in my mid-40s has not only saved me from further injuries but I also discovered that it’s a beautiful way to age gracefully.

I work with a broad spectrum of students and have expertise in accommodating and helping each person I work with to address their unique concerns including injuries, misalignment and posture-related conditions. Students who work with me develop their Pilates practice and become stronger, more flexible, and they carry themselves with more confidence and better posture.
